Hot Topics: Drugs, Prescriptions
Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.
3 John 1:2 (ESV)
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Proverbs 17:22 (ESV)
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
Proverbs 16:24 (ESV)
Perhaps drugs (as in our prescription drugs) SHOULD BE A HOTTER TOPIC than it is! Because we have questions that beg answers.
Are prescription drugs helpful or harmful? We could argue both sides of that question. Some wonder drugs have done wonderful things.
But when is enough, enough? Or too much? Because drugs also invite dependence, and some side effects can make us sicker:(
Some sad statistics:
The U.S. leads the world in drug usage, including our per-person prescriptions.
Americans pay BIG for the drugs they need: almost 3 times more than anyone else!
SIDEBAR: Drug companies pay BIG lobbying bucks (which aren’t allowed in most Western nations). Our politicians are selling us out for donations to get them elected.
Are we too busy to think of our health?
Perhaps the manufactured fantasies of fashion models and super-heroes foster a notion of easy fixes... rather than the gradual progression of healthy habits and natural cures.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
If you (or a loved one) have been taking prescribed drugs that you’re not sure are helping, do heart work and head work: pray and research!
Share your thoughts and questions with your doctor and/or seek additional opinions… from both respected and recommended experts with knowledge of your condition.
Due diligence can save you from regret. Blind trust is rarely a good idea, even in a well-intentioned doctor.
Only one Man is worthy of blind trust.

Too Many Meds? America's Love Affair With Prescription Medication
NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God! We’re all called to be actors (action stars) for Jesus. We’re all called to be models of Jesus. We all have gifts, talents, and a commission to multiply them in the world for His glory.
P.S. NO DEVOTION, PREACHER, or SERMON… can begin to replace personal time in the Bible. I wholeheartedly and clear-headedly recommend DAILY BIBLE READING.
WARNING: Don’t focus on your favorite verses, because taken out of context, they’re often misinterpreted. I plead with you to READ AT LEAST 1 BIBLE CHAPTER DAILY. How long does it take? An average of 5 to 10 minutes!
