The Bread Of Life: Our Main Course

Then Jesus said to them, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from Heaven, but My Father gives you the true Bread from Heaven. For the Bread of God is He Who comes down from Heaven and gives life to the world.'

Then they said to Him, 'Lord, give us this Bread always.'

And Jesus said to them, 'I am the Bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from Heaven, not to do My Own will, but the will of Him Who sent Me. This is the will of the Father Who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him Who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.'

John 6:32-40 (NKJV)

Runners up their games by running a course. No matter the weather or how they feel, they continue in training on their course. Over time, they grow in strength and wisdom, gaining strategies that help them succeed. Coaches help them prepare. Combine it all, and voila! Their gifts come to fruition.

I run my game on a different Course. No matter my troubles or how I feel, I continue in training on my course. Over time, I grow in strength and wisdom, gaining strategies that help me succeed. One Coach helps me prepare. Combine it all, and voila! My gifts come to fruition.

My primary Course is the four Gospels. I study God’s Lines again and again. My Primary Teacher is Jesus, Himself. No pastor, sermon, or best-selling book will EVER be my #1 go-to. Following God is my daily pursuit.

King David said: 'I will run the course of Your Commandments, for You shall enlarge my heart' (Psalm 119:32). Runners DO grow larger and stronger hearts.

So do Christians who circle the Gospels.*

When we do, we grow up like Jesus did. He 'Grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man' (Luke 2:52)... that one day we who follow could become 'Trees of Righteousness' (Isaiah 61:3): FRUITFUL disciples!

'And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed' (Romans 13:11).

Regarding the Bread of Life, all 4 Gospels speak of symbolic bread. But one day in Luke I saw something new….

The Bread Of Life: Our Main Course (Part 1)

* To break down my Bible circuit: I circle the Gospels. I circle the Epistles. Occasionally, I re-read the Old Testament. I believe EVERY WORD OF GOD IS IMPORTANT, true, and relevant.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
