Leadership: A New Definition
Whoever serves me must follow Me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves Me.
John 12:26 (NIV)
The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
Mark 10:45 (NIV)
I get it. The mother of James and John believed in her sons and sought their welfare. She knew Jesus was the Way to advance…
So she insisted that they ask their Boss for leading roles in His coming kingdom. The remaining ten disciples were miffed.* Clearly, neither mother nor sons had learned God’s new definition of leadership:
'For the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great' (Luke 9:48).
'The last will be first' (Matthew 20:16), because…
'The Lord lifts up the humble' (Psalm 147:6).
Back in their world, but also in our world, God says the meek will 'Inherit the earth' (Matthew 5:5), BUT…
Humility is a hard-learned lifestyle, especially for people with great gifts: gifts that produce praise, perks, and promotions. Therefore, take to heart this crucial lesson:
It's better to LEARN HUMILITY NOW than to face a HUMBLING DEFEAT LATER!
Since God ‘Crowns the humble with victory’ (Psalm 149:4), let’s consider what this crown looks like.
Humility is a soft, quiet crown. It refuses to announce its presence.
Humility is a small, modest crown. It doesn't need or try to be noticed.
Humility is a contented crown. It remains happy wherever it is.
Humility is a hard-working crown. It doesn't expect others to serve it.
Humility can be a painful crown, because it covers the heads of heroes.
Humility is a surprising crown, because God’s leaders come from everywhere.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
Within the entertainment industry, the enemy offers crown after crown. Self-serving sponsors join self-seeking stars. Their overt offspring?
Limitless award shows and red carpets; media celebrities idolized; lost lambs (their fans) follow and copy them. No matter the cost. Because of the crown!
Since you follow and copy THE Rock Star, humility is the name of your crown. Nevertheless, it’s polished and shiny! But… your shine is simply a reflection of THE ONE LIGHT that will never be dimmed.
DO put on this crown. Wear it every day. Your elevation by the Hand of God is guaranteed and coming. Expect it. Wait for it. It’s just a matter of time. Jesus, THE King, redefined leadership.
Leadership: A New Definition (Part 6)
NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God! We’re ALL called to be actors (action stars) for Jesus. We’re ALL called to models of Jesus, and we ALL have gifts, talents, and callings from God– to multiply them in the world for His glory.
P.S. NO DEVOTION, PREACHER, or SERMON… can begin to replace personal time in the Bible. I wholeheartedly and clear-headedly recommend READING THE BIBLE DAILY.
WARNING: Don’t focus on favorite verses, because out of context, they’re often misinterpreted. I plead with you to READ AT LEAST 1 BIBLE CHAPTER DAILY. How long does it take? An average of 5 to 10 minutes!
