Hot Topics: Evolution
Beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2 Peter 3:8 (NKJV)
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”
James 4:13-15 (ESV)
He said to them, “It is not for you to know periods of time or appointed times which the Father has set by His own authority…”
Acts 1:7 (NASB)
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8 (ESV)
Evolution has been a hot topic since Charles Darwin said men evolved from apes. Quickly, God's naysayers seized the moment to discredit biblical creation.
Many schools teach Darwinism as the truth, so Christians took it to the Supreme Court. A faith fight lost to science theories.*
SIDEBAR: Definition of “theory”: “A well-substantiated explanation for a phenomenon, based on a large body of evidence from repeated observation and experimentation,” but a theory still isn’t a fact. It’s a researched, well-educated guess.
Science next proposed the Big Bang Theory. It’s been debated, but not refuted. Some Christians think it works with the Bible, and the timeline is allegorical. Others believe it refutes the Bible.
Since man's biggest brains will never match God's, we shouldn’t expect the world to “get” Him… But neither should WE expect to “get” God! So…
How should we handle “hot topic science” as peace-seeking ambassadors for God? Let’s make our homes oases of learning. And…
Refuse to argue “God things” with the world, ‘Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men’ (1 Corinthians 1:25). The Bible tells us to avoid debates!
Regarding teaching and God-discussions, let’s not depend on schools, but teach at home. 'Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it' (Proverbs 22:6). ‘Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up' (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).
If we’re smart, let’s thank God and STAY HUMBLE. The highest IQ on Earth is child’s play, compared to the infinite Mind of Christ. He transcends the time and logic of men. ‘Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways!’ (Romans 11:33).
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
I know you're smart, because you need to be, to walk the mission fields of media: this high-impact field where God’s lost sheep roam.
Nevertheless, to keep moving forward, keep your mouth closed where debates are concerned. If you’re pushed hard to give an opinion, perhaps you can say words to this effect:
“I think it’s a fascinating question, and I don’t claim perfect understanding. For heavenly enlightenment, I wait:).”

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God! We’re all called to be actors (action stars) for Jesus. We’re all called to be models of Jesus. We all have gifts, talents, and a commission to multiply them in the world for His glory.
P.S. NO DEVOTION, PREACHER, or SERMON… can begin to replace personal time in the Bible. I wholeheartedly and clear-headedly recommend DAILY BIBLE READING.
WARNING: Don’t focus on your favorite verses, because taken out of context, they’re often misinterpreted. I plead with you to READ AT LEAST 1 BIBLE CHAPTER DAILY. How long does it take? An average of 5 to 10 minutes!
