Love... Is Merciful
Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
Luke 6:36 (ESV)
For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
James 2:13 (ESV)
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
Matthew 5:7 (ESV)
As an old song goes...“Love and marriage go together like a horse and carriage.” Therein, consider an analogy.
If love is the white horse Jesus rides,
If mercy is the carriage that holds us,
If we’re moving on wheels of forgiveness…
Through this life– into our Father’s Arms…
But without mercy, we’re flat on our backs, headed down into a pit of hellfire!
What’s more merciful than a connecting, uplifting, pushing-through-the-darkness love?
Not a “sometimes” love that’s based on feelings, or “bends with the remover to remove,” *
But an always love that’s rooted in God: a love choosing to see the best in us!
Not in the ashes of our worst moments, but in the beauty of our noblest acts!
Not as a judge, pronouncing us guilty, but as a lifeline, knowing Christ saved us!
Actors, models, and talent for Christ:
Stand in the gap between saints and sinners: a gap widened by a judgmental church, a gap denounced by a merciful God.
You’re the link, the hope, and their connection– reaching out to His lost and lonely sheep, whose eyes are fixed on entertaining screens,
s-e-a-r-c-h-i-n-g for love and somewhere to belong.
See them as God does, through eyes of mercy!
Love… Is Mercy (Part 53)
* William Shakespeare, Sonnet 116
NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God! We’re all called to be actors (action stars) for Jesus. We’re all called to be models of Jesus. We all have gifts, talents, and a commission to multiply them in the world for His glory.
P.S. NO DEVOTION, PREACHER, or SERMON… can begin to replace personal time in the Bible. I wholeheartedly and clear-headedly recommend DAILY BIBLE READING.
WARNING: Don’t focus on your favorite verses, because taken out of context, they’re often misinterpreted. I plead with you to READ AT LEAST 1 BIBLE CHAPTER DAILY. How long does it take? An average of 5 to 10 minutes!
