Dream Haters: Dream Deceivers

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Matthew 7:15 (ESV)

In the ancient ages of the Bible, people created and worshipped idols: icons or images to hold their dreams: dreams of hope, favor, and deliverance!

But these idols were (and still are) phonies. The only thing they delivered were lies. 'No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light' (2 Corinthians 11:14).

During Rome’s reign, ordinary people could go and see extraordinary shows, starring gladiators, beauties and beasts: heroes and villains, winners and losers. They were among Earth’s first celebrities. It was, no more or less, than SHOW BUSINESS!

But shows can be faked and idols aren’t real.

Among the faithful (back then and today), idols assumed the form of false prophets, God warned of them in the Old Testament, as did Jesus in the New Testament, as did apostles in their Epistles.

Because…

Dream deceivers sprang up like tares in the wheat, seeking to dominate God’s holy fields.

Fast forward to now: Ordinary people through show and tell (on countless millions of personal screens)... STILL see gladiators, beauties, and beasts: heroes and villains, winners and losers.

We call these showy dreams “entertainment”. Much worse, we call them “news” and think they’re true. Unfortunately, most of them are lures: shiny, twisted hooks, fashioned from fool's gold– drawing naive people away from God.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Entertainment is funded by salesmen: merchandisers seeking hearts and dollars! They're dream deceivers: media maestros! Celebrities have become our idols!

Enter Stage Right: actors, models, and talent for Christ! Because 'When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him' (Isaiah 59:19).

You are His standard. You are His dreamers. You hold His talents. You carry the Truth! Through you, lost sheep who dream of green pastures and clear water can meet the True Shepherd. Fakers will flee flat, while you stand in their wake. God’s lost and beloved sheep will come home.

Crucial reminder:

Dream fakers (false prophets) in our churches are INFINITELY WORSE than dream makers (who create media). Phony preachers pretend fiction is fact. Actors and artists make no such pretense.
