Christian Pitfalls: Settling Down

In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.

One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof, he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful…

2 Samuel 11:1-2 (NIV)

The pitfall of settling down is sneaky. It may seem like a REASONABLE choice. It may seem SAFE, LOGICAL, and EASY. But do these man-centered words sound like God?

That being said,  could…

  • Cozying up in our 4-walled churches…

  • Covering our light under Christian roofs…

  • Spending most of our time with fellow saints…

  • Forgetting the world is our mission field…

  • Placing security before duty…

  • Ignoring our Captain’s Great Commission…

  • Put us in dereliction of duty?

When King David settled for a season- and chose not to go to war with his men… his idle eyes focused on Bathsheba… which brought long-term family disaster. Although God forgave David’s grievous sin, its effects caused generational pain.

When Abraham’s nephew, Lot, got comfy- and chose not to follow but to settle– in the terrible city of Sodom, long-term family disaster followed. Although God spared and forgave selfish Lot, the consequences of it brought great pain.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

DON’T settle down. DON’T get comfortable. Church is vital, but it's NOT your Lifeline.

Your Lifeline is Jesus, and He ordered:

  • 'Go therefore and make disciples of all nations' (Matthew 28:19);

  • 'Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature' (Mark 16:15);

  • 'You are witnesses of these things' (Luke 24:48);

  • 'As the Father has sent Me, I also send you' (John 20:21).

Your destiny is reaching up to God… and reaching out to people– everywhere! By spreading your talent through media, fans who follow you… may discover Him!

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.’ Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
