Who Do People Say That I Am? Actors, Models & Talent For Christ
To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; to those who are without law, as without law... that I might win those who are without law; to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might, by all means, save some.
1 Corinthians 9:20-22 (NKJV)
Paul was an actor. Perhaps the world's greatest evangelist,
Who was once a notorious hater,
Who became Christ’s primetime ambassador,
Who was hounded, heckled, and heralded,
Who wrote a lot of the New Testament.
He fine-tuned his style to each audience, in a way the hearers could understand. He made His King’s Gospel RELATABLE… that people in all places and backgrounds might believe in Jesus as their Savior!
Paul played the brilliant debater to Greeks.
He played the perfect Jew to Pharisees.
He played the co-worker to laborers.
He played the hero of a sinking ship.
He played the good prisoner to Romans.
He played the tough guy to fearful natives.
He played the kind father to struggling saints.
He played the corrector to wayward saints.
He played the brilliant defense attorney, when God’s Son’s identity was questioned.
He played his personal testimony… of a big guy who became a small guy, a hater who became a believer, a confessor of his own grim mistakes, to show how earth’s worst sinners can be saved!
To us, he says, 'Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ' (1 Corinthians 11:1). That's acting. And THE ONE he's acting like is Jesus.
Paul set the stage for God’s actors to rise. He demonstrates how to find common ground with each audience: how God moves us from glory to glory, act to act, scene to scene, and show to show.
Actors, models, and talent for Christ: Your joy and your job is showing off Christ. Excelling on stage is your opener.
Excelling off stage is the better act: to impress people with your performance in a store, office, school, or waiting room. In the places where many act badly, you must act with remarkable goodness.
That’s when they’ll ask the Reason for your Hope.

NOTE: This is a 2023 update of a 2013 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
