Leadership: Patient

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Romans 12:12 (ESV)

If 'God is Love' (1 John 4:8), and if 'Love is patient' (1 Corinthians 13:4)...

If we serve a 'Gracious and merciful God, slow to anger...' (Jonah 4:2), then how can saints justify impatience (much less Christians He calls to be leaders)?

In this era of IMMEDIACY, where GRATIFICATION can be instant, has 'The god of this world' (2 Corinthians 4:4), namely Satan, filled us with notions of entitlement?

Have we become spiritual toddlers, demanding whatever we want RIGHT NOW?

What types of things have we come to expect?

  • Job-hopping and impetuous shopping?

  • Fast food, smart phones, cheap thrills, and easy lies?

  • Instant everything, 24/7?

If we’re not serviced quickly, we complain. But Father and Son don’t do things that way. 'Regard the patience of our Lord' (2 Peter 3:15), Who is patient toward us, 'Not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance' (2 Peter 3:9).

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Patience with your paths as God’s performers, especially when it’s “slow”, is crucial. Impatience is a fouling penalty, and you may face extra time “on the bench.”

Patience with the paths of other people, those who aren’t doing what you hope or ask, is also crucial. God monitors their pace. It’s not your job!

If you don’t show remarkable patience, you (and I) are misrepresenting Christ, and repping Him well is our UTMOST ROLE!

'Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus' (Romans 15:5).

Leadership: Patient (Part 41)

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God! We’re ALL called to be actors (action stars) for Jesus. We’re ALL called to models of Jesus, and we ALL have gifts, talents, and callings from God–  to multiply them in the world for His glory.

P.S. NO DEVOTION, PREACHER, or SERMON… can begin to replace personal time in the Bible. I wholeheartedly and clear-headedly recommend READING THE BIBLE DAILY.

WARNING: Don’t focus on favorite verses, because out of context, they’re often misinterpreted. I plead with you to READ AT LEAST 1 BIBLE CHAPTER DAILY. How long does it take? An average of 5 to 10 minutes!
