Leadership: Responsive

You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 22:39 (ESV)

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Philippians 2:4 (ESV)

Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:2 (ESV)

Whether Jesus met…

  • His closest friend, 4 days dead and buried,

  • A naked, unchainable lunatic,

  • A centurion, whose servant was sick,

  • A tax collector sitting in a tree,

  • A grieving mom at her son’s funeral,

  • An adulteress expecting to die,

  • A bleeding woman, who couldn’t be healed,

  • A paralyzed man lowered through a roof,

  • Excited children, who ran toward Him,

  • Masses of fans, who chased Him everywhere,

  • Parents of kids, who were demon-possessed,

  • Shunned lepers, who were longing to be clean,

  • Thousands of followers, who were hungry,

  • People who were deaf, blind, mute, lame, and maimed,

Jesus went out of His way to help! Without exception, He was responsive to the needs and pain of those around Him.

The King was never too busy, too tired, or too important to offer His help. Material or personal concerns were non-existent. (God had Him covered.)

His singular concern was His mission, and His mission was the people in His path. In this light, who has God placed in your path?

  • Who are your needy neighbors or hurt kin?

  • Who do you work with, learn with, or hang with?

  • Who do you meet when you’re out and about?

  • Who’s clapping for you… Or liking your posts?

  • Who are the beggars hoping you’ll SEE them?

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

Our Lord IDENTIFIES with those in need:

'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me' (Matthew 25:40).*

Consider fame (large or small) as a net:

'I will make you fishers of men' (Matthew 4:19).

Through the channels of modern media, the light of your rising is extended, and people are “caught” by your charisma.

In the world's version of celebrity, its stars are simply irresistible, and star-struck fans are easily ignored.

But the King of kings reversed this process. The only one He ignored was Himself. He resisted fame's “crowns” no one should wear, and embraced fame's duty… to lead the lost.

Earth’s brightest Rock Star was a Responder! His Example is the one to follow.

Leadership: Responsive (Part 39)

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God! We’re ALL called to be actors (action stars) for Jesus. We’re ALL called to models of Jesus, and we ALL have gifts, talents, and callings from God–  to multiply them in the world for His glory.

P.S. NO DEVOTION, PREACHER, or SERMON… can begin to replace personal time in the Bible. I wholeheartedly and clear-headedly recommend READING THE BIBLE DAILY.

WARNING: Don’t focus on favorite verses, because out of context, they’re often misinterpreted. I plead with you to READ AT LEAST 1 BIBLE CHAPTER DAILY. How long does it take? An average of 5 to 10 minutes!
