Suffering: Disease, Like The Woman With An Issue Of Blood

A large crowd followed and pressed around Him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better, she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.”

Mark 5:24-28 (NIV)

My mother and brother shared the same fate, but it hit them in different decades. They lived and died with Parkinson's disease: a ruthless and progressive condition.

As each grew worse, I didn't know Jesus well enough to ask His help or healing. But they visited plenty of doctors, placing fragile trust in pills and treatments.

Still, the disease remains incurable, and brave sufferers do the best they can.

Yet the woman with the issue of blood,

  • Although her disease seemed incurable,

  • Although it marked her as being “unclean”,

  • Although she paid doctors all that she had,

  • Although she’d been afflicted for 12 years…

She continued to seek God and healing. So she pushed through just to touch His hemline, and the rest is glorious history!

Actors, models, and talent for Christ:

If you or your loved ones have a disease or face a threatening diagnosis, never give up your hope and faith in God.

Why some people get amazing healings– and others with solid faith still suffer... is a tough question, prompting tougher faith.

But in these 4 things we CAN rest assured:

  1. God transforms suffering into shining. In others and HIMSELF, Jesus proved it!

  2. At the latest, healing comes at death’s door, and our vibrant health will be eternal.

  3. Seeking God in hopeful expectation… greatly improves the quality of life.

  4. Showing faith during our hardest trials is a compelling witness of Jesus.

As His ambassadors in media, take the time to see the fans who see you, including those who suffer diseases. Your greeting and prayers will mean so much.

NOTE: God is my Ghostwriter. If what I write is good, it’s from God! We’re ALL called to be actors (action stars) for Jesus. We’re ALL called to models of Jesus, and we ALL have gifts, talents, and callings from God–  to multiply them in the world for His glory.

P.S. NO DEVOTION, PREACHER, or SERMON… can begin to replace personal time in the Bible. I wholeheartedly and clear-headedly recommend READING THE BIBLE DAILY.

WARNING: Don’t focus on favorite verses, because out of context, they’re often misinterpreted. I plead with you to READ AT LEAST 1 BIBLE CHAPTER DAILY. How long does it take? An average of 5 to 10 minutes!
